A number question is asked and everyone writes a guess at the same time. Then the real decision comes: you put your chips on whoever you think came closest. You may back yourself with at most one chip; the rest has to go on other people.
In most trivia games the person who does not know is out of the game. Here they still have a job: reading the table. And a truth that few people saw pays the most, so backing the obvious favourite is rarely the best move.
